Juan Pelegrí y Girón

A practising commercial lawyer, Juan Pelegrí y Girón boasts an extensive and outstanding career spanning over 40 years in the legal profession.

He holds a Law degree from the University of Deusto and a degree in Business Administration from ICADE (E-3). He further enhanced his education in the United States, completing Harvard’s prestigious International Tax Program and LLM.

Since beginning his legal practice in 1981, he also became a state lawyer, serving prestigious institutions such as the State Secretariat for Budgeting and Taxation and the Administrative and Labour Chambers of the Spanish Supreme Court.

However, Corporate Law has been the main focus of his professional career, first at the International Commercial Bank, and later in Cemex, a leading cement and building materials global corporation. He had the opportunity to take part in its global expansion process alongside with other senior executives, serving for many years as General Counsel for EMEAA, where he held the highest legal responsibilities for the organisation in the Region.

His outstanding professional career has earned him prestigious honours, including the Distinguished Cross of the First Class of the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort in 1998, the Knight’s Cross of the Royal and American Order of Isabella the Catholic in 2005, and the Commander by Number of the Order of Civil Merit in 2015.

His dedication to the field of law, beyond the practice of legal advocacy, has placed him at the helm of institutions such as the Fundación Justicia en el Mundo, of the International Association of Judges, where he served as a trustee for over a decade. He was also appointed a Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation in 1997.

At the end of 2020, he resumed his legal practice, collaborating with various firms as of counsel, and joined Garrido in 2025 to contribute his knowledge and experience to one of its strategic departments, the firm’s Corporate- Commercial Law Department.
