PhD in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, Juan Gonzalo Martínez Micó joined the Military Legal Corps by competitive examination. In 2000, he was promoted to the position of Legal Advisor General and appointed first Chief Prosecutor of the Fifth Chamber of the Supreme Court and then General Counsel of the Defense and Inspector General of the Military Legal Corps.
In April 2003 he was appointed Magistrate of the Supreme Court, being assigned to the Second Section of the Contentious-Administrative Chamber, which deals with matters related to Tax Law. For four years he combined his position with that of Member of the Central Electoral Board.
Having completed his active service as a civil servant at the Supreme Court in 2018, he became involved with Garrido in February 2018 as a member of its Advisory Board.
